Seiko AZ lenses against blurriness and distortion
Luxury: Realistic vision including lotus effect

If, in spite of correct dioptres, vision is very blurry in the outer zones of the lens and a nicely spotted summer dress becomes a tent with zebra pattern, the reason may lie in the geometry of the spectacle wearer’s lenses. It is the geometry of the lens surface that is decisive for the quality of vision. In particular those people with higher dioptres and corneal curvature are affected by this problem. Up to now their low vision could not be entirely corrected in the outer zones of the lens. Seiko was determined to overcome this challenge. The company Seiko Optical Europe GmbH that belongs to the well-known international Seiko Group has optimised the surface geometry of its organic enses. Thanks to the new spectacle lenses with “AZ Design” vision is free of distortion in all lens areas.

Background information: In the centre of any lens vision is normally clear and free of distortions. But what happens if you look through the outer zones of the lens? The image is often blurry, and in particular punctated objects are distorted in a way that a point becomes a line. So it is entirely possible that your glasses let you down on your first blind date, because

  • with spherical lenses (price category C) the person opposite looks more like an hourglass
  • with aspheric lenses (price category B) the person opposite looks more like a tent
  • and with double-aspheric lenses (price category A = Seiko AZ Design) the person opposite looks realistic, and at best it will be love at first sight according to the principle “accepted as seen”.

What is more, due to the super anti-reflection coating there are no disturbing irritations through reflections. So you can look straight into the eyes of your (new) crush.

Lotus effect gets rid of rain drops

And should you be standing in the rain together with the man or woman of your dreams, lost in thought, the rain drops will run down the lenses entirely due to the standard lotus effect coating.

Goodbye “Coke bottle glasses”!

Being able to perceive each and every point is a fact we owe to these very thin and light lenses, which guarantee unlimited adaptation as well as relaxed, comfortable and much clearer vision. There may be manufacturers offering even thinner lenses and others offering even lighter lenses, but so far the combination of the two properties is unique worldwide. So Seiko Optical can very well claim to be the supplier of the thinnest and at the same time lightest organic lenses worldwide.
